Have you ever wished you could enjoy meals from your favorite restaurants without all the calories? Menu Makeovers offers dozens of recipes that will allow you to re-create healthier, yet tasty, versions of your favorite restaurant dishes. Helping families eat healthier is the goal of this kid-friendly cookbook. Now you can cook flavorful recipe combinations in a delicious and more nutritious way, right in your own kitchen.

The authors, Lori Walton, RN BSN and Gretchen Fisher, RD CD, are concerned about the nutritional needs and eating habits of kids and families. They have prepared lots of yummy alternatives to “going out to eat.” These original makeover recipes are fun to make and good for you, too!

The cookbook contains breakfast items, lunch treats, side dishes, entrées, beverages, snacks, desserts and “everything in between.” Choose from Champion Chicken Nuggets to Moooocha Mocha Shake and Hoosier Hush Potato Pups to Steam’n Steak Fajitas. You will find a wide variety of recipes appealing to every appetite - even some for finicky eaters. Cook up familiar restaurant lookalikes using this cookbook, which is complete with nutritional information charts. You will love the results!

All proceeds from this book will support the L.I.F.E.for Kids (link to click to drop down to the boilerplate below) program at Peyton Manning Children’s Hospital at St.Vincent (link to click to drop down to the boilerplate below).

Excerpt from the Foreword by Peyton Manning:
Getting fit is not something that happens overnight, or even something that is really ever finished. For athletes like me, staying fit and healthy is a full time job. Setting goals, eating smarter and getting active are the keys to getting started and maintaining a healthy lifestyle.

Healthy eating can be a tricky thing, and it doesn’t mean you can never eat the not so healthy foods you love. Menu Makeovers is a cookbook designed to promote healthy eating while still enabling you to eat the foods you love at home. I hope you enjoy the recipes provided here and have a good time cooking with your parents. Remember, if you start with a balanced diet, you can have your cake and eat it too, as long as you are eating the foods that keep you fit and healthy.
